Last week I finally got the technical details worked out for Quaker-E, a Quaker environmentalist mailing list that Pam and I have been talking about starting.
You are hereby invited to join if you are:
- an environmentalist with an interest in Quakerism, or
- a Quaker with an interest in the environment.
(In both cases, “environment” should be understood broadly, to include earth-based spirituality/Paganism, veg*nism/animal liberation, and so on.)
You can join by following the link above, or by sending a blank email to quaker-e-join@quakerism.net.
As of right now, there are five people on the list, myself and Pam included. I’m suggesting we start introducing ourselves by answering the following questions:
- what’s youre name?
- where (roughly if you like) are you from?
- how did you develop a concern for the environment, and what role if any did Friends play in that process?

PS: If anyone else has a Q-related mailing list they’d like to start (and would like to avoid using Yahoo! Groups), please contact me.
Hi, Zach!
I notice that on your Quaker-E page, you do not include my old FCUN e-mail list on your list of “Other Earth/Quaker sites”. Admittedly that list has been slumbering for years, so that I’ve never bothered to update the name from FCUN to QEW. But it still exists, and has a subscriber list, and acquires new subscribers from time to time.
I wouldn’t mind shutting it down, actually. It’s nothing but a bother cleaning out the daily spam postings to it. So if you actually get your new list showing some sustained life, I would happily transfer the subscribers of the old FCUN list over to your new list. If you want ‘em, that is.
Thanks Marshall — I’ll add that next time I update the page this weekend. I saw a few links to it, but I wasn’t sure what the story about it was.
